United Arab Emirates [UAE] Visa Requirements

 If you intend to visit any of the countries in United Arab Emirates (UAE) viz., Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm al Quwain and Fujairah, your passport should be valid for at least 2 to 6 months on your arrival in any of these countries.  You can get certain type of UAE visa which also include Dubai visa:

 Visit Visas or Tourist Visas

Tourists who wish to stay for more than 14 days time in UAE for visiting relatives or for business purposes should apply for UAE Visit Visas including Dubai Visa.  There are certain categories which will help you to identify whether you will get visa before arrival or would be issued at the entry point or airport.

 AGCC citizens

Citizens from Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia i.e. Arab Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) do not need any UAE visa including Dubai Visa. 

AGCC Residents

AGCC emigrant residents may acquire a non-renewable 30-day visit visa upon arrival.

British Citizens

Residents of the United Kingdom can obtain free UAE visa on arrival including Dubai Visa, if they have right to abide in the UK.  The UAE visa is valid for 60 days and can further be renewed for a period of 30 days for Dhs.500 (US$137) (check the latest price).  Citizens having British Overseas Citizen Passport, who are not in possession of right to abide in the UK can also obtain visa free of charge.

33 Privileged Countries

Citizens of 33 privileged countries like Denmark, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Greece, Cyprus, Finland, Malta, Spain, Monaco, Vatican City, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, United States (US), Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong are given visa on arrival status. Check the current scenario for getting UAE visa.  In case your friend or relative is sponsoring your tourist visa, it is essential that he/she should be earning over Dhs.4,000 per month and holding a valid residence visa.  A hotel can also sponsor a tourist visa, but they will hold your passport till all hotel payments are cleared.

For getting a tourist visa you are require to fill a visa application form and submit it to the sponsor along with first few pages of the passport.  Today the cost of tourist visa to UAE costs Dhs.650 (US$178) and it takes 7 days for it to be issued.  It becomes the duty of the sponsor to deposit tourist visa to airport immigration at least one hour before the arrival of visitor’s flight.  It costs Dhs.3 (US$3) as processing charges.

Transit Visa to UAE

A transit visa to UAE including Dubai is issued to visitors having a valid ticket for an onward flight.  The transit visas are issued free of charge and is of 4-day (96 hours) duration.

Entry Service Permit Visa

There are also two other types of visit visas.  The first is of 14-day duration this is known as Entry Service Permit Visa.  This visa is often issued by a United Arab Emirates company or a Hotel.  The second visa is a Multiple Entry Visa, which is of help to individuals who are visiting UAE continuously.  Visitors from Germany and United States have special privileges.

Overstaying

There is a penalty charge of Dhs. 25 (US$ 7) - Dhs. 100 (US$ 28) per day if you overstay. If the overstay lengthen to a considerable amount of time, then a court hearing is issued and the judge will decide what penalties will occur.
